Kea Charrette 2022 Copenhagen, Denmark

My team and I for the KEA Charrette 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark

Being apart of the KEA 2022 Charrette in Copenhagen, Denmark was a huge honor for Ashley. For a week in October of 2022, 84 students from all over the world were invited to Copenhagen, Denmark to participate in the Charrette. These students came from Denmark, Lithuania, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Canada, Brazil, the UK, and the USA. These students were divided into groups and given a local issue to design a solution for. All groups were to present their solution at the end of the week, and one group would be given the first place award. This video is just a sneak peak into what Ashley’s group project worked on.

Ashley’s group was given the task to design an interactive, flexible office space for a music company local to Copenhagen, called Tempi. Tempi brings artists from all around Denmark and seeks to revolutionize the music industry in their country. Tempi wanted Ashley and her group to design an office space where they would be able to host events as well as have the option to keep private office spaces if they so choose. Tempi also requested that the office be a mental health-friendly space, where it is open and inviting with a kitchen in the center. So, Ashley and her group came up with the solution to design a space with flexible walls. This gif depicts the space, with certain walls beings more solid and sound proof and others being transparent and more open. This gives more freedom rather than having only one option of walls to act as space dividers. To make this feasible, Ashley and her team thought of having a neatly designed rail system where the walls can be moved or stacked away for whatever occasion Tempi might want. Ashley’s main task for the process was being in charge of laser cutting the parts for the mock-up, as you can see here. Of course, Ashley also helped her team brainstorm and stay organized on the other tasks they needed to achieve for the week.
